Joe - PseudoJovian

"Joe - Pseudojovian" by me, Carl Sumner Anderson III

A depiction of Joe from the 1957 sci-fi classic, "Call Me Joe", by Poul Anderson (no relation 🙂).

Passages in the short story depict how the landscape of Jupiter appears to Joe and to some extent how his body handles the environment.

The text on the image is my own, and though there were many details that inspired my rendering the following quoted text from "Call Me Joe" was primarily important in interpreting the physical form of the artificially designed Jovian:

"Cornelius turned the plastic image over in his hands. If you could imagine such a thing as a feline centaur with a thick prehensile tail—The torso was squat, long-armed, immensely muscular; the hairless head was round, wide-nosed, with big deep-set eyes and heavy jaws, but it was really quite a human face. The overall color was bluish gray."
