Jackpot Comics #10 - Archie Comics

This comic cover fabrication of mine combines 4 sketches I doodled in high school. I still find myself reworking old fan art sketches from my younger days into compositions. The end product serves as the final issue of the ‘40s series, “Jackpot Comics”, by MLJ/Archie Comics which had an original run of 9 issues. Technically, “Jackpot” became “Jolly Jingles” replacing superheroes with funny animal shenanigans, but what if “Jackpot” had remained. Though the superheroes featured in the original “Jackpot” were different than the ones I chose for my cover, my hero decisions were based on a color dynamic focused on red, yellow, and black. Many classic MLJ covers seemed to have this color scheme with muted cool tones, faded yellows, and red hues that dominate. Only 10 cents!
